Duration: 16 Days

The trek begins with a scenic flight from Pokhara to Jomsom, followed by trekking along the Kali Gandaki River. Over the next few days, you’ll pass through the unique villages of Kagbeni, Chele, and Tsarang, eventually reaching Lo Manthang, the cultural heart of Upper Mustang. After exploring the ancient walled city, the trek concludes with a return to Jomsom and a flight back to Pokhara.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m / 4,429 ft)

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), a representative from Nepal High Trek & Expedition Pvt. Ltd. will greet and transfer you to your hotel. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner with your trekking guide and a briefing about the Upper Mustang trek.


Day 02: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (810m / 2,657 ft)

Distance: 202 km / 125 miles – Duration: 8–9 hours (by tourist bus)
Enjoy a scenic drive to Pokhara with beautiful views of forests, rivers, and villages. Alternatively, you may opt for a 35-minute flight. Upon arrival, explore the lakeside area in Pokhara.


Day 03: Fly to Jomsom (2,700m / 8,858 ft) and Trek to Kagbeni (2,858m / 9,376 ft)

Trek Duration: 4 hours
Take a short morning flight to Jomsom with aerial views of Himalayan peaks. Begin your trek through a windy, barren landscape toward Kagbeni, the gateway to Upper Mustang.


Day 04: Trek from Kagbeni to Chele (3,050m / 10,006 ft)

Trek Duration: 6–7 hours
After checking your special permit, follow a sandy, windswept trail with gradual ups and downs. Reach the cliffside village of Chele, offering a dramatic desert-like landscape.


Day 05: Trek from Chele to Syangboche (3,475m / 11,401 ft)

Trek Duration: 7–8 hours
Trek through Ekle Bhatti and ascend Taklam La Pass (3,624m). The route includes narrow paths and plateaus with views of Tilicho Peak, Damodar Danda, and Yaskawa Kang before reaching Syangboche.


Day 06: Trek from Syangboche to Ghaymi (3,520m / 11,548 ft)

Trek Duration: 6–7 hours
Climb to Yamada La (3,850m) and pass Tibetan-style villages and teahouses. Cross Nyi La Pass (4,010m), descend, and arrive at Ghaymi village, known for its Buddhist culture.


Day 07: Trek from Ghaymi to Charang (3,500m / 11,482 ft)

Trek Duration: 6–7 hours
Cross the Ghaymi Khola and walk along one of the longest mani walls in Nepal. The trail leads to the beautiful village of Charang, set amidst maze-like fields and ancient structures.


Day 08: Trek from Charang to Lo-Manthang (3,700m / 12,139 ft)

Trek Duration: 4–5 hours
Hike past Chhoser Valley with views of Annapurna I, Nilgiri, Bhrikuti Peak, and Tilicho Peak. Arrive at the walled city of Lo-Manthang, rich in culture and Tibetan influence.


Day 09: Acclimatization & Exploration Day in Lo-Manthang

Excursion Duration: 4–5 hours
Visit Namgyal Gompa and Tingkhar, the last village northwest of Lo-Manthang. Explore ancient monasteries, royal palaces, and Chhoser Cave, returning for an overnight stay.


Day 10: Trek from Lo-Manthang to Dhakmar (3,810m / 12,500 ft)

Trek Duration: 7 hours
Descend via a different route, stopping at Ghyakar to visit the sacred 1,200-year-old Ghar Gompa, dedicated to Guru Rinpoche. Continue to Drakmar for the night.


Day 11: Trek from Dhakmar to Ghiling (3,806m / 12,484 ft)

Trek Duration: 6–7 hours
Return to Ghiling through windy and dusty terrain, especially in the afternoon. Spend the evening exploring this quiet village.


Day 12: Trek from Ghiling to Chhuksang (3,050m / 10,006 ft)

Trek Duration: 6–7 hours
Walk through picturesque arid valleys and traditional settlements. Enjoy views of barren cliffs and terraced landscapes before arriving at Chhuksang.


Day 13: Trek from Chhuksang to Jomsom (2,700m / 8,858 ft)

Trek Duration: 7 hours
Descend toward the Kali Gandaki River valley, enjoying final glimpses of Mustang’s dramatic scenery. Reach Jomsom for your last night in the mountains.


Day 14: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara

Take an early flight to Pokhara, with scenic views of snow-capped peaks. Spend the day relaxing by Phewa Lake or exploring the lakeside market.


Day 15: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu

Duration: 8–9 hours
Return to Kathmandu via tourist bus. After check-in, enjoy your final evening in the capital, possibly with a farewell dinner.


Day 16: Final Departure

You will be transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport 3 hours before your flight. A farewell ceremony by Nepal High Trek & Expedition Pvt. Ltd. marks the end of your incredible journey.

What is the highest altitude we will reach?

The highest point of the trek is Kala Patthar at 5,545 meters, which offers panoramic views of Everest and surrounding peaks. The Everest Base Camp itself is at 5,364 meters.

Do I need prior trekking experience for this trek?

While prior trekking experience is not mandatory, it is recommended to have a moderate level of physical fitness and the ability to walk 5-7 hours a day on uneven terrain. Acclimatization days are included to help with altitude adjustment.

5The views from The High Roller were absolutely stunning! It\’s a fantastic way to see the Strip and the surrounding area. The cabins are spacious and comfortable, and the audio commentary adds an extra layer of enjoyment. Highly recommend!
