This two-week trek begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Soti Khola. The trail follows the Budhi Gandaki River, passing through quaint villages like Machha Khola, Samagaun, and Samdo. The highlight is crossing the Larkya La Pass at 5,106 meters, which offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks. The trek ends in Dharapani, followed by a return to Kathmandu.

Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Machha Khola
(Distance: ~160km | Elevation: 1,400m – 930m | Duration: 8–9 hrs drive)
Leave Kathmandu for a full-day drive through scenic countryside and hillside roads. Transition from paved roads to rugged mountain terrain as you descend to the riverside village of Machha Khola.


Day 2: Trek from Machha Khola to Jagat
(Distance: 22km | Elevation: 930m – 1,410m | Duration: 6–7 hrs)
Follow the Budhi Gandaki River through narrow gorges and traditional settlements. Cross multiple suspension bridges and pass hot springs before reaching Jagat, a fortified village on a hillside.


Day 3: Trek from Jagat to Deng
(Distance: 21km | Elevation: 1,410m – 1,804m | Duration: 8-9 hrs)
Ascend through terraced fields and lush forests. The trail moves through Philim and other small settlements before reaching the Tibetan-influenced village of Deng.


Day 4: Trek from Deng to Namrung
(Distance: 19.5km | Elevation: 1,804m – 2,630m | Duration: 6 hrs)
The route leads through dense pine and rhododendron forest, with river crossings and views of waterfalls. Namrung offers panoramic views and marks the beginning of the upper Nubri region.


Day 5: Trek from Namrung to Lho
(Distance: 11km | Elevation: 2,630m – 3,180m | Duration: 4–5 hrs)
A gradual uphill trek through alpine scenery. Along the way, you'll pass Tibetan-style villages and enjoy mountain views, particularly from the large monastery in Lho.


Day 6: Trek from Lho to Samagaun
(Distance: 17km | Elevation: 3,180m – 3,530m | Duration: 4–5 hrs)
Walk through picturesque villages and forests. Views of Mt. Manaslu and other snow-capped peaks emerge as you reach Samagaun, one of the largest villages in the region.


Day 7: Trek from Samagaun to Samdo
(Distance: 8.2km | Elevation: 3,530m – 3,860m | Duration: 4 hrs)
A shorter but scenic walk across alpine meadows and glacial rivers. The trail climbs steadily toward the remote Tibetan village of Samdo, located near the Nepal-Tibet border.


Day 8: Trek from Samdo to Dharamsala (Larkya Phedi)
(Distance: 6.5km | Elevation: 3,860m – 4,460m | Duration: 4–5 hrs)
Continue on a rocky path to Larkya Phedi, the final rest stop before crossing the high pass. The landscape becomes increasingly barren and rugged.


Day 9: Cross Larkya La Pass and trek to Bimthang
(Distance: 24.7km | Elevation: 4,460m – 5,106m – 3,720m | Duration: 8–9 hrs)
Start early for the challenging ascent to Larkya La Pass, the trek's highest point. After taking in the views of surrounding peaks, descend steeply to the green valley of Bimthang.


Day 10: Trek from Bimthang to Dharapani
(Distance: 31km | Elevation: 3,720m – 1,963m | Duration: 7–8 hrs)
A long descent through forests and farmlands, passing through Tilije and other villages. Reach Dharapani, where the trail meets the Annapurna Circuit route and road access resumes.

What is the highest altitude we will reach?

The highest point of the trek is Kala Patthar at 5,545 meters, which offers panoramic views of Everest and surrounding peaks. The Everest Base Camp itself is at 5,364 meters.

Do I need prior trekking experience for this trek?

While prior trekking experience is not mandatory, it is recommended to have a moderate level of physical fitness and the ability to walk 5-7 hours a day on uneven terrain. Acclimatization days are included to help with altitude adjustment.

Are there any risks of altitude sickness on this trek?

Yes, altitude sickness is a possibility as the trek takes you above 5,000 meters. However, proper acclimatization days and following your guide’s instructions can help minimize risks.
