The Langtang Valley Trek is a stunning 8-day journey that takes you into the heart of the Himalayas, offering breathtaking views of Langtang Lirung (7,227 m) and surrounding peaks. This trek is perfect for those seeking a shorter yet rewarding adventure, rich in natural beauty and cultural experiences. Walk through lush forests, charming villages, and serene landscapes as you explore the Langtang National Park. Immerse yourself in the traditions of the Tamang community and enjoy the warm hospitality of the locals. Known as the “Valley of Glaciers,” Langtang offers a peaceful trekking experience with diverse flora and fauna.
This trek starts with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. Over the next six days, you’ll trek through picturesque landscapes and traditional Tamang villages, passing Lama Hotel, Langtang Village, and Kyanjin Gompa. After enjoying the majestic views and exploring the valley, the trek concludes with a return to Syabrubesi and a drive back to Kathmandu.

After an early breakfast, begin your scenic drive north from Kathmandu. The road traces the banks of the Trishuli River, passing terraced fields, rural villages, and mountain vistas including Ganesh Himal (7,422 m). After a stop at Dhunche, continue toward Syabrubesi, where you can unwind and enjoy the riverside hot springs.

Start trekking along the Bhote Kosi and Langtang Rivers. The trail winds through lush jungles, bamboo groves, and terraced fields. Keep an eye out for red pandas and local wildlife. After ascending gently through Rimche, you reach Lama Hotel nestled in a forested river valley.

Trek through dense forest alongside the river, gaining elevation gradually. At Ghoda Tabela (3,030 m), you'll check in at an army post. From there, pass through Chyamki village and traditional Tamang settlements with prayer wheels and mani walls until you reach the culturally rich Langtang village.

A short and gradual ascent through yak pastures and spiritual landmarks including mani walls and water-driven prayer wheels. Arrive at Kyanjin Gompa, surrounded by the towering Himalayan peaks.

Do I need prior trekking experience for this trek?
While prior trekking experience is not mandatory, it is recommended to have a moderate level of physical fitness and the ability to walk 5-7 hours a day on uneven terrain. Acclimatization days are included to help with altitude adjustment.
Are there any risks of altitude sickness on this trek?
Yes, altitude sickness is a possibility as the trek takes you above 5,000 meters. However, proper acclimatization days and following your guide’s instructions can help minimize risks.
