The Upper Mustang Trek is a unique journey into the ancient "forbidden kingdom" of Mustang, located in the rain-shadow region of the Himalayas. This 12-day trek offers a rare opportunity to explore a culturally and geographically distinct part of Nepal, with Tibetan-influenced traditions, centuries-old monasteries, and striking desert-like landscapes. The trail passes through colorful rock formations, hidden caves, and fortified villages, taking you to the walled city of Lo Manthang, the former capital of the Mustang Kingdom. This trek is an extraordinary blend of cultural discovery and rugged adventure.
The trek begins with a scenic flight from Pokhara to Jomsom, followed by trekking along the Kali Gandaki River. Over the next few days, you’ll pass through the unique villages of Kagbeni, Chele, and Tsarang, eventually reaching Lo Manthang, the cultural heart of Upper Mustang. After exploring the ancient walled city, the trek concludes with a return to Jomsom and a flight back to Pokhara.
What is the highest altitude we will reach?
The highest point of the trek is Kala Patthar at 5,545 meters, which offers panoramic views of Everest and surrounding peaks. The Everest Base Camp itself is at 5,364 meters.
Do I need prior trekking experience for this trek?
While prior trekking experience is not mandatory, it is recommended to have a moderate level of physical fitness and the ability to walk 5-7 hours a day on uneven terrain. Acclimatization days are included to help with altitude adjustment.

5The views from The High Roller were absolutely stunning! It\’s a fantastic way to see the Strip and the surrounding area. The cabins are spacious and comfortable, and the audio commentary adds an extra layer of enjoyment. Highly recommend!
